# Payments

> Get paid online and at the counter, with one model for the payment and what happens next.

Accept a payment on a page Ionic hosts, inside your own website, through a
shared link, or at a card terminal. Your application keeps the payment result
connected to the order or customer it belongs to.

## Start here

New to Ionic? [Take your first test payment](/quickstart) with hosted checkout.
If you already know the experience you need, choose it below.

## Ways to collect a payment

  <Card title="Hosted Checkout" icon="arrow-up-right-from-square" href="/guides/checkout">
    Redirect to a ready-made payment page. Start here when you want the
    smallest integration.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Embedded Checkout" icon="window-maximize" href="/guides/embedded-checkout">
    Keep the buyer on your website with an Ionic checkout inside your page.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Ionic Blocks" icon="puzzle-piece" href="/blocks/overview">
    Design the payment page and Pay button. Ionic supplies the secure inputs.
  </Card>

  <Card title="In-person payments" icon="cash-register" href="/in-person/overview">
    Collect credit or PIN-debit payments on an assigned terminal.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

For a reusable offer, use a [payment link](/guides/payment-links).
[Compare all options](/guides/accept-payments), or use
[Connect](/connect/overview) when the receiving business is a merchant on your platform.

## Build on the payment

A [PaymentIntent](/concepts/key-concepts#how-the-objects-connect) tracks the
payment. A Charge records an attempt, and a Refund returns money from a
completed Charge. Customers and saved payment methods can also be used for
[subscriptions and invoices](/billing/overview).

[advanced card fields](/guides/payment-fields-advanced). For devices, see
[terminal states](/concepts/terminal-object).

## Availability

* Apple Pay is enabled per account. Request it during onboarding or through
  support.
* Google Pay requires payment processing that supports it; ask Ionic support to confirm it for your account.
* Platforms can add Apple Pay and Google Pay to one-time payments for connected
  merchants with the [Wallet Block](/guides/wallet-block), once Ionic enables
  it for the platform's environment.
* Ionic Blocks collects new cards. Wallet buttons appear on hosted and embedded
  checkout.
* Card payments complete without a 3-D Secure challenge. See
