# What you can build

> Start with the experience you want to offer your customers.

An online purchase, a monthly plan, or payments inside the software a business
already uses. Choose your starting point below. Each guide takes you into the
existing integration, beginning in [test mode](/concepts/key-concepts#test-mode-and-live-mode).

## Extend your integration

Once the first flow works, add the capabilities your customers need.

| Your next step | Guides |
| - | - |
| Sell from a reusable offer or keep checkout on your site | [Payment links](/guides/payment-links), [embedded checkout](/guides/embedded-checkout), [catalog](/guides/catalog) |
| Help returning customers pay | [Customers](/guides/customers), [save cards](/guides/save-cards), [Apple Pay](/guides/apple-pay), [Google Pay](/guides/google-pay) |
| Equip another counter | [Request hardware](/guides/in-person-payments#request-physical-hardware), [check terminal readiness](/concepts/terminal-object#three-independent-states) |
| Manage the subscription lifecycle | [Hosted subscription signup](/guides/checkout#selling-a-subscription), [check entitlement](/guides/subscriptions#check-entitlement), [test clocks](/guides/test-clocks) |
| Adjust a sale or an invoice | [Refunds and captures](/guides/refunds-captures), [credit notes](/guides/credit-notes) |
| Build for connected merchants | [Connect a new merchant](/guides/hosted-account-links), [connect an existing merchant](/guides/connect-a-merchant), [platform payment flows](/connect/overview#take-payments-for-your-merchants) |

Wallet availability depends on the account and payment experience. The wallet
guides cover enablement and domain setup. Connect must be enabled for your
platform; see its [availability and permissions](/connect/overview#availability).

## Take it live

Confirm payment from [verified webhooks](/webhooks/quickstart), handle
[retries safely](/api-reference/idempotency), and follow the
[going-live guide](/guides/going-live). Platforms have a
[Connect launch guide](/guides/connect-go-live).
